Frequently Asked Questions

 Our practice specializes in diagnosing and managing complex hormone conditions. Many endocrine visits involve specialized laboratory testing, imaging, and long-term treatment plans that must be supported by the correct medical documentation from your Primary Care Provider (PCP).

Because of this, our office requires a referral from your PCP before scheduling or being seen, even if your insurance plan does not always require one.

Why the referral is important

The referral provides the diagnosis code and clinical reason for your visit. This is essential because:

• Many endocrine labs and imaging tests must match a documented diagnosis to be covered by insurance
• Insurance companies often deny testing if the correct diagnosis and medical necessity are not established in advance
• It helps us order the right labs and imaging before your visit, making your appointment more productive and avoiding delays
• It allows us to coordinate care with your PCP and prevent duplicate testing or unnecessary costs

Without the appropriate referral and diagnosis information, we may not be able to order or perform the specialized testing needed for your care.

Our goal

Requiring a referral helps us:
• Protect patients from unexpected bills
• Ensure testing is approved and covered whenever possible
• Provide efficient, coordinated specialty care

How to obtain your referral

Please contact your PCP and request a referral to our endocrinology office. Ask that it include:
• Reason for consultation
• Relevant diagnosis codes
• Recent labs or imaging (if available)

Have the referral faxed to our office prior to scheduling.

We are in network with most insurance such as; Medicare, UHC, UMR, BCBS, Cigna, Aetna, Molina Health, Mercy care, Ahcccs, Health choice, and many more. Please ensure if you have an HMO insurance you get your PCP to submit your referral to your insurance prior to being seen. 

In house ultrasounds or liver scan can take up to 10 business days for the report to be completed.
